BOOK REVIEW: Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos

Cordelia is an average 20-something coffee house manager. Like many coffee house managers, Cordelia has a degree to back it up. She just can't find a career to be passionate about. But, she likes her little coffee house. Everyone seems as though they've walked off the set of a different movie. So Cordelia has a pretty good life, maybe not fulfilled, but pretty good. And then sweet, beautiful Cary Grant lookalike Martin Grace walks into her coffeehouse and everything changes.

Stop. I know what you're thinking. Cordelia and Martin fall in love and live happily ever after. But Love Walked In isn't that book. Oh, it's a love story, all right. In fact, it's several love stories. But love doesn't just have to be about romance. There's love of family, friends, even strangers. There's the kind of love that feels like home, wherever you are. That is this book.

I'd love to tell you more about this book, but it's really Cordelia's story. I want you to discover it like I did. About half of the book is told in the first person by Cordelia, and I really wish it was told entirely by Cordelia. She's witty and self-deprecating, full of insights and observations. And her ability to compare real life to classic films - genius! This book was almost perfect for me. If it had been told entirely in the first person, it would have been. My rating: 4/5.

This was a library book, and I urge you to pick it up yourself. The world will seem brighter for it.

It seems like a good story! I remember hearing a lot about it when it first came out.

Great review! I really liked this book. It had a lot of poignant parts to it. More depth than I had thought before I started it.
